…but,,..before I start this… another “Monty- Moan”… a few weeks back on the way to HN, the bus was already an hour late, mostly due to holiday traffic, and I needed to pee, so I saw the toilet, I thought , “well, just maybe..I will try it… I couldn’t find a light switch & there was all sorts of clutter in the small “loo” .. I was struggling with my shorts , when the door opened, the driver’s “buddy” screaming for me to “come out”..I said “what’s the point of a toilet on the bus if I cant use it?” ,, but I knew the answer, this was where the bus “crew” kept their “stuff,

then today from Pg to BP, for once we had a decent looking train, not the 50 years old rubbish, sliding doors, raised comfortable seats.. and , surprise it left Podgorica ON TIME..”shock!” … I found an empty seat, but not long after we left the station, a conductor, after checking my ticket ,told me I was in a “reserved seat” .. in Serbian street slang… (then I saw a small sign in the local language, above the seat next to me, apparently saying this was the “staff” seat… well the conductor on has 3 main stations on an almost 3 hour journey to check… so he needs to rest?...anyway…there were THREE of them… so, after attempting to dispute that a) only 2 were on duty, and b) why cant I sit in the empty seat, even if they occupy 3?

.but my logic does NOT translate… .. immediate next to where I was sitting there were 4 girls occupying one side of the carriage, and a young man & woman occupying FOUR seats on the other, a large suitcase in between and bags on the 2 empty seats, that could easily have been placed in the luggage rack.. the “boy” just stared with ablank face when I gestured to move the bag…and the girl just stared out the window, pretending I don’t exist… so the “conductor” (who doesn’t!) ..gestured to the next section , where a seemingly half-asleep drunk older woman occupied 4 seats!, she didn’t care, so moved her bag so I could sit down.. which placed me in a opposition position to the “dumb boy” … who then took a beer can out of the bag, he ignored///… so I looked at him. And he looked everywhere , except at me, I wanted to catch his foot, but the angles weren’t good when he got ready to leave the train…

But on the platform…I walked straight at him. And yes, he got well out of my way! …I did thank , a local girl who offered me a seat on the platform whilst we waited for this train, and gave me advice of which platform it would arrive on… as she got off, I told her “you are nicest person I have met here “ (in the last 2 months) what I meant to tell her was “ you are the ONLY nice person I have met here” …

This morning. As usual, as I walked to the station, cars & trucks were on the “pavement” so that I had to risk walking into harms way, on the road, as the morning traffic zoomed past me, its always been like this in Monty , the cars occupy the pavements & people have to walk in the road… I recall someone informing me about the coming “BIKE lanes” several years ago, <they are all over Podgorica, no where else in Monty> I replied “oh, really? Somewhere ELSE for the Rons to park their cars? “ … <not a smile>
